Our social commitment

Our social commitment is characterised by pioneering, innovative and long-term inclusion schemes. They apply to all our business lines.

A company committed to equal opportunities

We are committed to combating all forms of discrimination, and establish clear rules and protocols for the inclusion of women, people of all origins and social backgrounds, and people from a variety of educational backgrounds, regardless of where they live, their age or sexual orientation, from the moment they are recruited and integrated, and throughout their career.

Our role is to promote fair access to employment and training so that everyone can find their place, in order to work towards a fairer society.

Our roadmap

We want to take a proactive, pioneering approach in three areas in order to step up our workforce- related and social efforts:

  • Continuing our efforts to promote mentoring and apprenticeship programs for young people;
  • Employing young people through specific initiatives in each country;
  • Increasing gender diversity in all our business lines through practical action plans.

Commitment to employing young people through a social inclusion program

SOCOTEC is an inclusive company. We firmly believe that we can promote employment among young people and people who are struggling to find employment by offering technical training that is accessible to all kinds of profiles.

The SOCOTEC Group has launched the " REBOND FAVORABLE " programme which aimed at young people who have dropped out of school and have no qualifications, to give them access to a trade and a job.

This scheme is a bet on social innovation by creating a favourable and comprehensive learning environment for the professions of technical electrical inspector, environmental measurement assistant and certifier-measurer in existing buildings. These training courses are unique and exclusive to SOCOTEC.

This approach echoes the national challenges of economic recovery : the France Recovery Plan and the Youth Plan : #1jeune1solution (#1 youth1solution). It is based on tailor-made learning solutions.

This 9- to 12-month programme enables young people to secure a permanent contract with SOCOTEC and enter the world of work. The driving licence is paid for by SOCOTEC, The jobs we are targeting are based on inspection or measurement assignments to be carried out at our customers' sites.

  • 23 branches are taking part in this experiment, which is unique in the profession ;
  • 36 sponsors are involved in supporting apprentices ;
  • 63 young people trained in 3 years.
  • 100 new young people by 2025

SOCOTEC UK is committed to building an inclusive culture that supports employees from diverse backgrounds. Diversity is a strength and SOCOTEC UK actively strives to create an environment where all employees feel valued and respected.

To achieve this, a range of initiatives have been implemented, such as unconscious bias training, diversity and inclusion workshops, and employee resource groups.

A partnership has also been established with an organisation called Fedcap, which enables SOCOTEC UK to help disadvantaged people and the long-term unemployed back into work. Two people have been placed in SOCOTEC's Uxbridge laboratory through Fedcap. SOCOTEC UK is now working with Fedcap to roll out the initiative nationwide in 2023.

As a result of this partnership with Fedcap, SOCOTEC UK was named Employer of the Year at the ERSA Awards and has been awarded the Disability Confident Level 1 badge.

The Drilling Academy is a training and social inclusion project developed by SOCOTEC Italia to help unemployed people or people who want to undertake a comprehensive technical training course and find their first job.

The course was created in 2022, and is paid for by the company. In total, 18 people have received training in geotechnical methods involving drilling machines, through a course lasting 650 hours. Twelve people have successfully completed the course and have joined the company’s teams of senior geotechnical experts.
